I was excited all weekend to hear the second half of the stories this morning. They were wonderful.
I particularly enjoyed listening once the lights were turned on/up, and I could see the tellers more clearly.
Focusing on the process made it much easier to get the butterflies to fly in formation.
Amen to both - the butterflies, and the classroom lighting today. Although the darkness did lend a bit of ancient authenticity to the session. I found myself wondering if this was what it was like to tell stories in the dark recesses of caves, when you were unable to see the faces around you. I imagine vocal technique was even more important back then ;-)
ReplyDeleteToday, I paid attention to movements made by storytellers in the storytelling space. This is a particular problem for me---I tend to make non-deliberate movements when telling---and I actually find a microphone a "grounding" experience.
ReplyDeleteI truly enjoyed the tellings today---the stories felt as though they were in a different state of process than those told on Friday (weekends help)!
